Dr. Stephen Mounsey

Dr. Stephen Mounsey is a Consultant Dermatologist who sees patients for all aspects of dermatology, from rashes to skin lesions. He has a particular interest in medical dermatology, including eczema and psoriasis and the use of advanced systemic and biologic therapies, as well as genital dermatology.
He first trained in Pharmacy at Cardiff University, graduating with first-class honours, and worked as a Clinical Pharmacist at the University Hospital of Wales. He then studied Medicine at King's College London, graduating with distinction, and completed postgraduate training at Guy's, St Thomas' and University College London Hospitals. He undertook specialist training in dermatology at St John's Institute of Dermatology, one of the world's leading dermatology centres. His background in both pharmacy and medicine underpins his approach to prescribing and managing systemic treatments.
Dr. Mounsey is the Regional Training Programme Director for dermatology residents. He has contributed to international journals, textbooks and conferences, and has research experience spanning laboratory science to clinical trials.
He is available to see private patients aged 13 and over in Central London at the Shard, Montrose London in Belgravia and HCA Healthcare UK on Old Broad Street.

Dermatology Consultations
A thorough assessment of any skin, hair or nail concern, from acne and rashes to long-standing conditions such as eczema and psoriasis. Available for adults and adolescents aged 13 and over, with a clear diagnosis and a treatment plan tailored to you, including advanced systemic therapies where needed.

Mole and Skin Cancer Checks
A careful examination of any mole or skin lesion that is new, changing or worrying you. Using dermoscopy, the lesion is assessed to determine whether it looks reassuring or needs further investigation, with a biopsy or removal arranged on site if required.

Mole Mapping
For people with many moles or a higher risk of skin cancer, mole mapping with the Canfield IntelliStudio creates a detailed photographic record of your skin. Future images are compared against this baseline, making subtle changes easier to spot early.

Skin Surgery
Minor skin procedures including excisions, punch and shave biopsies, curettage and cautery, and cryotherapy. Procedures are performed under local anaesthetic, usually in a single visit, with samples sent for analysis where appropriate.

Patch Testing
If your skin may be reacting to something it comes into contact with, patch testing can identify the cause. Small amounts of common allergens are applied to the back and checked over several days to pinpoint triggers and guide what to avoid.
